Fashion can make the ordinary person extraordinary and a fashion icon can make the ordinary extraordinary. That’s the power of fashion. It’s all about image. This is the story of how a supermodel made a pair of dirty boots fashionable.

A good example of this is the famous supermodel known as Jenn. As everybody knows, Jenn was discovered at the tender age of fifteen and by the time she was in her twenties, she was one of the most sought-after models in Paris. Then she really made it big when she got a contract with one of the biggest cosmetic labels in the world. All she had to do was apply some Lancome eye cream, smile and speak a few words into the camera.

In contrast to a lot of supermodels, Jenn’s fame, beauty and wealth didn’t go to her head. She was a down-to-earth young woman who shunned the spotlight. She liked nothing better than traveling and exploring the world.

She liked visiting the big cities of the world, but she liked exploring mountains, jungles and deserts alone or with a few friends even better. She had a pair of dirty leather brown boots that she loved more than any of the high fashions she had ever worn. She took the boots with her everywhere.

Jenn had just returned from an African safari when it happened. She checked into a deluxe Nairobi hotel and went up to her room for a nice hot shower. After her shower, she did her hair, put on a little makeup and threw on a nice skirt and blouse. She didn’t feel like wearing heels, though, so she just put on her boots and went downstairs.

While she was out exploring the streets of Nairobi, she saw a leather watch in a window display. It was such a good match with her boots, she went in and bought it. Her find put her into such a good mood, she called her friends and they arranged to meet in the hotel bar.

A photographer outside the bar noticed her and knew who she was. He took a photograph of her as she was checking her new watch. A week later, the picture was on the cover of a major New York magazine. A couple of weeks after that, the streets of New York, London and Paris were filled with girls wearing brown workboots.

The story doesn’t end there, though. While it was the boots that caught everyone’s eye first, they then began to notice the watch. It was just a cheap watch and besides, its brand name wasn’t visible. Jenn’s manager had a brainstorm and had a watchmaker make duplicates. They marketed them as ‘Jennwatch’ and they sold like hotcakes!
